ZeitHelden is a workout timer designed for a company founded by a personal trainer. It is used in order to structure one on one and group workout sessions. The goal was to create an easy to use timer which allowed the user to cycle through different workout presets, the timings of these would be shown on the screen as well as be acoustically accompanied by a built in speaker.
The development process involved many 3D printed prototypes in order to refine the tech package alongside the hardware design team, as well as to react to user testing sessions which influenced features, UX and CMF. Depending on the goal of the prototype different prototyping methods were used including SLA, SLS, and FDM 3D printing.
Working prototypes were also hand assembled in order to check manufacturability and create final devices for testing sessions.
The final product enclosure was injection moulded and had already been designed with this process in mind, as such, split lines and other marks could be hidden by the silicone band that also created a pleasant interface for the user with the buttons on the top of the device.
