QS1 runs a collective space in Berlin with a photo studio, several music studios and event locations. This OSB structure was designed and made for the original QS1 location in Berlin Charlottenburg. It served as a place to gather during the day and for selected events which took place at the venue. It was designed to make most use of the available space whilst comfortably enabling people to sit on both levels at the same time.
It also acted as a pedestal and platform for the audience during events which created a unique viewing and listening experience.
For the QS1 location in Berlin Weißensee I designed an infinity wall photo studio and made the construction drawings used during the build. The verticals were timber framed and covered in plasterboard whilst the floor was made with sheets of OSB. The corner where both rounded walls meet would be very difficult to make in plasterboard so it was 3D printed and then blended in with the plasterboard and OSB construction creating a seamless result.
The images above show how the separate 3D printed pieces of the corner were joined. Then automotive filler was applied to create the basis for the required seamless surface in the photo studio.
The images below show how the 3D printed corner piece is seamlessly integrated into the finished infinity wall photo studio.
